Mastering the V60 Pour Over
A simple starter guide for building a balanced, repeatable V60 brew at home.

The V60 rewards patience and consistency. This starter guide gives you a dependable method you can use as a baseline before adjusting for your own grinder, water, and roast.
Start with a reliable ratio
Use 15g of coffee to 250g of water as a practical starting point. Grind slightly finer than you would for a plunger, but not so fine that the brew stalls or tastes dry.
Rinse the paper filter with hot water, discard the rinse water, then add your coffee and level the bed before brewing.
Pour with steady intent
Begin with a 45g bloom and wait about 30 seconds. This helps release trapped gas and prepares the coffee bed for a more even extraction.
Continue pouring in slow circles, keeping the water level controlled and avoiding aggressive pours against the paper filter.
Adjust one variable at a time
If the cup tastes sharp or thin, grind a little finer or extend the brew time. If it tastes heavy or bitter, grind slightly coarser or pour more gently.
Keep notes for a few brews. Small adjustments become much easier when you can compare them against a consistent recipe.
